The lifting magnets in shops make it possible to lift and move objects that are tremendously heavy. There are main kinds of lifting magnets.

The electromagnet produces powerful electromagnetic fields using electricity. The magnet could be switched on and off with a simple flip of a switch or press of a button. This makes operating the lifting magnet less tiring. The ability to completely turn off the magnet also makes it less complicated to clean. A magnet will attract not only the object you want to lift or move but also other particles in the surroundings that can make it dirty and affect its performance. However, the dependence on electricity can have its pitfalls. Any form of power failure can cause the magnet to stop functioning which can damage the project and equipment while endangering workers. An electromagnet requires backup power supply which only adds to the expensiveness of the lifting magnet. There is also a need to hire a person needed to inspect and repair issues with the electromagnet.

The permanent lifting magnets need very little maintenance. It does not rely on electrical energy and is generally really long lasting. A regular cleaning and inspection is all that is needed to keep the magnet tool performing properly.

Much like other devices, lifting magnets call for appropriate usage and upkeep. Every magnet tool is rated for the amount of weight it could hold. A manufacturer of lifting magnets will certainly check the strength of the magnet prior to sending them out. But the rated strength of the magnet tool may not always match with actual usage strength. There are real-life factors that can significantly affect the strength of a magnet.
