About Sharpening Tools
Machining and Deionization Agents
Machining is a broad term that covers the various processes in which a raw material is cut into a desired form or size using a controlled process that removes part of the material. The material-removal process is commonly referred to as subtractive manufacturing.
Machining processes are distinguished between the traditional and non-traditional methods.
Traditional methods are those that relies mechanical forces to removed the material such as drilling, grinding, milling or turning. A non-traditional method is any process that don’t rely on mechanical forces. Example of non-traditional machining methods are electrical discharge machining, electrochemical machining, laser cutting and water jet cutting.
Both traditional and non-traditional machining methods rely on a magnitude of tools. Aside from the machining tools themselves, other components are needed such as a deionization agent.
