Every tool from the most basic magnet tool to the most expensive piece of machinery in your workshop represents an investment that must be protected. The diamond tools are one of the more expensive and sensitive tools that require careful maintaining.
Something as simple as knowing how to carefully handle or where to place diamond tools can greatly increase the life of the cutting tools. In the case of a diamond blade, it is important to avoid placing the blade in contact with other objects or surfaces before or after use. Although diamond is a very strong material, the metal bonding components that hold the diamond particles together are not as hard-wearing. The heat produced during operation can cause the metal component more pliable and at risk of deformation when pressure is applied to it. The pressure from the weight of the tool is enough to cause the blade deformation.
The kind of cleaning agent used is also very important. Cleaners with high acidity can damage the bonding components in diamond tools. This results to diamond cutters to chip more easily. The recommended cleaning agent for diamond tools are mineral spirits.
Overheating is the greatest enemy of diamond tools. As previously mentioned, excessive heat can cause the cutting tips of various diamond tools to deform or become dull. The metal bonding component can melt and form oat the diamond particles, preventing it from coming in contact and cutting the work piece.
